Sketching for Busy People (JUL 12 - AUG 2)
Meeting times: Saturdays 9:30AM - Noon
Location: Various parks across St. Louis
Drawing in a sketchbook is an intimate act of being present and engaging with our surroundings. For 4 Saturday mornings, we will be working from landscape in various parks across St. Louis - Tower Grove Park, Forest Park, Benton Park, and possibly Concordia Seminary or Oak Knoll Park (TBD.)
Open to participants with all levels of experiences, we will be discussing the relationship between seeing and responding, the effects of marks on a page and how they both construct and express our perceptual experiences.
This is a great introduction to drawing and ways of incorporating an approachable drawing practice into one’s life. Participants can expect to gain confidence in working quickly from observation and becoming aware of the mechanics of pictorial composition.
Supplies needed:
Sketchbook (recommended sizes: between 6 × 9” to 9 × 12”)
Graphie pencils (2B, 4B, 6B)
Eraser
Ballpoint pen
Exacto knife for sharpening pencils / pencil sharpener
Early Bird discount ($20 off) ends June 20.
