Nocturne in Tower Grove Park
Challenge your perception and creativity at our free night painting event in Tower Grove Park! How do we see and interpret color when painting in low light? Without artificial illumination, we’ll explore the trade-offs and unexpected beauty that emerge when light is removed from the process. This unique experience encourages artists to push their boundaries and embrace the surprising effects of night vision on color choices. Flashlights are prohibited to fully immerse in the experience. Bring your own painting supplies—a limited number of easels will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Location details coming soon—don’t miss this unforgettable creative experiment!

Signal From the Infinite: Opening Reception
Join us for an opening reception of JPA’s founders exhibition “Signal From the Infinite: Works by Jacob Janes and Misato Pang,” featuring a range of small to large figurative paintings made in the past few years in St. Louis. Exhibition catalogue, JPA t-shirts, prints, and paintings will be available for sale.
Janes was born and raised in Hannibal, MO. He is a lifelong wrestler, returned Peace Corps Volunteer, and mediocre skateboarder. Prior to earning his MFA from Marywood University, he also studied fine art at Lindenwood University and Mount Gretna School of Art. His paintings are figurative poems; playful, simplistic abstractions of common subjects, born from a sense of necessity.
Pang was born and raised in Hong Kong, She moved to the United States when she was 17 years old. As a Japanese-Chinese-American, her work contains a mixture of cultural influences and visual pursuits that serve as springboard for self-discovery— both of pictorial language as well as her heritage. From collage, drawing, printmaking, to photography, she uses the mediums interchangeably to provoke curiosity and surprise in her own approach to painting.
