Grafting into the Lineage - Transcription & Art History Cohort pt. 2 (NOV 6-20. DEC 4-18)

$220.00

Meeting Times: Thursdays 6:30-8PM
*Participants are welcomed and encouraged to bring their dinner / snacks

In our previous cohort, we’ve worked our way back in history through our own teachers and their influences, ending with Hans Hofmann. In this cohort, we will continue the method of working retrospectively through history and build upon the modernist artistic movements by discussing major figures such as Picasso, Cezanne, and Matisse. Each meeting involves making transcription of an artwork, paired with discussions and lecture on art history.

The goal of this cohort is to introduce a personal way of engaging with art history and contextualizing a larger conversation in manageable bits. At the end of this cohort, we will add to our ongoing large scale “family tree” timeline that summarizes the discoveries we’ve made during our time together.

We currently are not able to provide the exact agenda of each week’s topic of discussion until October 1.

Supplies needed:
- Sketchbook (any size)
- Graphite pencils
- Eraser
- Ballpoint pen
