Grafting into the Lineage - Transcription & Art History Cohort pt. 1 (AUG 13 - SEP 17)

$220.00

Meeting Times: Wednesdays 6:30-8PM
*Participants are welcomed and encouraged to bring their dinner / snacks

Working retrospectively through history, we will begin our survey with contemporary and modernist painters. The cohort will take on a personal approach by beginning with teachers that shaped our artistic development and pedagogy, gradually tracing backwards to their teachers and influences. Each meeting involves making transcription of an artwork, paired with discussions and lecture on art history.

The goal of this cohort is to introduce a personal way of engaging with art history and contextualizing a larger conversation in manageable bits. At the end of this cohort, we will construct a large scale “family tree” timeline that summarizes the discoveries we’ve made during our time together.

Week 1 & 2

(Our Teachers) Graham Nickson, Mark Webber, Scott Smith, Bruce Gagnier, and more

Week 3 & 4
Euan Uglow, Leland Bell, Frank Auerbach, and more
